The K+S Salt Australia team shared some salty snacks with the Onslow community at the Passion of the Pilbara recently, and welcomed the opportunity to support a local community youth program at the same time.

A very large volume of popcorn, ordered through Onslow General Store, helped entice visitors to the Stronger with Salt stall. The stall, which included an interactive ideas wall and community competition, shared the benefits of a new salt project to the region.

The large volume of popcorn was a bit too large however, which gave the K+S team the chance to support local youth program, V Swans Ashburton with a salty donation.

V Swans is the locally based education and community development arm of the Swan Districts Football Club. The organisation aims to ensure Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal young people actively and positively participate in physical activity, education and community. As part of the community service, food is often provided to the young people and their families.

K+S Salt Australia Managing Director Gerrit Gödecke said he was happy the popcorn would go to a good home.

“What could have been a problem (too much popcorn) ended up being a great opportunity to meet Kaiden Matera and hear about the important role V Swans plays in the community,” Gerrit said.

“We look forward to learning more about the program and visiting again when we are in Onslow next”.

K+S Salt Australia continues to look for ways to support local organisations doing amazing work for the local community.

K+S Salt Australia enjoyed attending the Passion of the Pilbara, which is a fantastic event organized by the Shire of Ashburton. We pay our respects to the Thalanyji people for hosting us on their custodial lands during the event.
